About Chris Grams
chris_grams8Chris Grams is the Senior Director of Brand Communications + Design at Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions. When he began at Red Hat in 1999, the company had about 100 people in a small office in Durham, NC. Today, Red Hat employs over 3000 people in 58 offices around the world with well over $1/2 billion in yearly revenues. He’s not taking credit for that, but thinks it is pretty cool.

The Brand Communications + Design group is an internal agency, responsible for the care and feeding of the Red Hat brand. Over the years, they’ve been an integral part of developing the voice, the look, and the culture of the company. The team is made up of designers, writers & editors, digital media experts, and other assorted misfits.

Before Red Hat, Chris did a 2 year tour of duty at IBM, and has also been an editor and literary agent in the book publishing industry. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and currently resides in Raleigh, NC. He moonlights as a bass player in a honky-tonk band.

Finally, a shout out to the lawyers: All of the opinions expressed on this blog are Chris’s alone and are not official statements of Red Hat.

Dark Matter @ Red Hat

Here is a series of posts I wrote based on a presentation I gave at an American Marketing Association event in December 2008.
